As a future school leader this quote speaks loudly to me. When I read the quote I quickly though of "action speaks louder than words." If we expect our organizations to behave a certain way, we as leaders have to first exemplify that behavior.

Im currently a graduate student and still the son of mother who occasionally hits me with a "do as I say, not as I do". My mind immedaitely went back to the frame of mind I was in when my mother would tell me that. The relationship between a mother who has that kind of view on authority and the relationship between a educational leader and their peers is much different. You must lead by example in order for true impact to be felt in whatever discpline you choose. Your peers are more inclined to follow by your example more often than by what comes out of your mouth alone, especially if your examples are lead with positivity,

This statement speaks volumes! As a future educational leader, I believe that the tone of a school environment is ultimately set by the principal. The principal should not only speak of how they wish for the school environment to be, but they should consistently set examples (of expected behaviors) for the surrounding faculty and staff.

I think this is important as a leader in any space because it's important not to just delegate responsibilities, but to exemplify the principles or the mission you want your staff to follow.

This a great quote, and applies in all environments school, work and home. Leading by example is very important, especially in schools when Leaders are creating an environment for their teachers and students to create knowledge.

A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way. Leadership is not easy but to whom much is given much is expected.
